Ms. Sue Xian

Early Intervention Teacher

MA (Special Needs & Inclusive Education), BSocSc (Psych)

Sue Xian graduated from the University of Sunderland, UK, with a Masters Degree in Special Needs and Inclusive Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia.

She has worked with children with special needs and has worked with children with diverse needs, such as those with Autism, Down Syndrome, ADD, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay, Cerebral Palsy and Angelman Syndrome.

In her previous role as a behavioural therapist, she conducted both centre-based and home-based sessions, which included one-to-one therapy, group therapy and shadowing. In addition to helping children with their behavioural issues, she also helped them achieve their goals in various developmental domains, such as in joint attention, receptive and expressive language, fine motor and gross motor, social skills, and in academics. She worked closely with the child’s parents, caregivers, teachers and support system, to prepare and transition them into mainstream schools.

Sue Xian believes that every child should be given an equal opportunity to learn and explore in a safe and conducive environment. From her years of experience as a special needs educator, she recognises that every child is unique, and flexibility in teaching strategies should be exercised to suit the unique needs of each child. As a special education teacher, she hopes to continue to communicate and collaborate with parents, caregivers, teachers and therapists as all of them play a crucial role in the growth and development of each and every child.
